Interview with Heather Hubbard

Last year I was listening to a podcast episode called “unCorporate Manifesto” that opened my eyes to the impact of the physicality of the corporate environment - from the paint colors to the furniture and decor. It was a dramatic realization and was my introduction to the host of the podcast, Heather Hubbard.

Heather became a partner, leading at a law firm at a young age. After some big life changes, she shifted her career focus to one where she was in the driver’s seat.

Learn how Heather goes all-in, despite her fear, and the power she has realized from speaking her truth and being honest. We also talk more about the podcast episode that originally caught my attention and drew me to her.

Key Takeaways:

  • Heather’s leap from law to running her own company

  • Why physical environments that represent all of us help with being authentic in corporate

  • When leaders show up authentically, it gives others permission to do the same

  • Her commitment to leading from the direction she wants to go in and speaking her truth

  • Courage: having fear and showing up anyway

  • How a terrible year led her to a path of personal development and professional perspective

  • How the best leaders are self-aware and prioritize personal development

  • Asking for what you want and advocating for yourself
